Coach's Corner

4/10/13

The Daniel Boone boys tennis team notched their first victory by defeating host Muhlenberg.  The Blazers got big wins at singles from Kyle Jones, Danny Reightenour, and Willie Ammons.  Jones played first singles, besting Muhlenberg’s Evan Lawrence in straight sets.  His performance impressed his coach Garry Lucas, “Kyle has a great game and today played big and hit big”.  Jones also teamed with Danny Reightnour at first doubles to gain the final point to secure Boone’s victory.  “In the doubles match, he (Kyle) totally dominated play and played mistake free tennis” added Lucas.  The Blazers were in a good position to win all five singles matches but fell short in third set tiebreakers at second and fourth singles.  At the fourth singles spot, Gary Jones dropped the tiebreaker 11-9 despite having three match points on his side.   The Blazers travel to Pottsville today for their next contest.
