Buckingham United Banshees (U12 Girls) Win State Cup Championship

This past Saturday our BU Banshees played in the EPYSA President’s State Cup Championship game at Lehigh County Fields. More than 140 teams competed since March to make it to Saturday's finals.  The next stop for the team is the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Region I Championships in Manchester, New Hampshire beginning on Friday, May 24.  A victory there sends them to Auburndale, Florida for a shot at the national championship beginning Wednesday, July 10.

Saturday Championship game vs Berks Rage Athletica was a 1-0 nail bitter with the lone goal being scored mid way through second half by Banshee left defender Erica Ives ( her 1st ever as a Banshee) on a Corner Kick that poped out of the box which she volleyed into the upper right corner.

The game was an impressive display of good possession style soccer by both teams. The defense and Goal Tending was rock solid and held strong to preserve the 1-0 win.

The Banshees now advance to the US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships Memorial Day Weekend where they will represent EPYSA against other State Champions from Virginia to Maine. You can follow their progress on the US Youth Soccer Region 1 web site that will have schedule and results posted.

Members of the team are:

Standing from Left: Coach Ed Beedle, Brooke Zarzycki, Isabel Hunter, Madison Gregor, Nora Greer, Megan Gallagher, Megan Kimball, Nicole Miller, Erika Ives and Asst Coaches Kurt Gregor & Damon Zarzycki

Congratulations to all the Banshees and Good Luck at Regionals in NH.
