2010 FALL BALLSEASON IS UNDERWAY!

Thank you to everyone who registered their young players for the 2010 Fall Ball season!   We had a great turn-out!  Now that registration has closed and rosters are being formed, players can expect a call from their coach sometime next week!  The season begins right after Labor Day and will run through the last weekend in October (weather permitting)!

FALL BASEBALL:  $50.00 per player registration fee  - all teams!  Season begins shortly after Labor Day and runs through the end of October.

  • REGISTER ON-LINE:  Click on "REGISTRATION" from the menu bar to the left of this screen and follow the steps!

MINOR LEAGUE:  Open to players 8-10 years old (as of April 30th, 2011).  In other words, the player must be age eligible to play Minor League baseball next Spring (at least 8, but no more than 10, as of April 30th, 2011).

What to expect?  Our Minor Fall Ball League is developmental!  Teams will practice 1-2 nights per week, and play 1-2 games on the weekend.  Some local travel is required.  Instruction will focus on the basic fundamentals of the game at the Minor League level.

MAJOR LEAGUE:  Open to players 10-12 years old (as of April 30th, 2011).  Again, the player must be eligible to play Major League baseball next Spring (at least 10, but no more than 12 as of April 30th, 2011).

What to expect? - Something a little different this year (depending on the number of players that register)!  Our goal is to grow the 10-12 year old Fall program and make it even more developmental for kids of ALL skill levels.  Here's the plan:

  • Majors Developmental Team:  Just like our Minor League, this developmental team will practice 1-2 nights per week and play 1-2 games per weekend.  This team will play locally (some travel required) and development will focus on the basic fundamentals of the game at the Majors level!
  • Majors Travel Team:  Players on this team will practice at least 2 times per week and will travel to other counties/regions to play games and possible tournaments on the weekends (some additional $$ may be required as needed - depending on games/tournaments scheduled).  Development here will focus on the advanced level of Majors baseball.  Depending on the number of players interested, evaluations for this team may be necessary.

FALL SOFTBALL:  $50.00 registration fee - all teams!  Season begins shortly after Labor Day and runs through the end of October.

10U, 12U, 14U and 16U teams available (depending on the number of gals registered, we may need to combine teams/players as needed).

All teams are developmental and will stress the fundamentals of the sport for players at all levels.  Parents and players should expect 1-2 practices per week, with 1-2 games on weekends.  Some local travel is required.

Any questions or concerns - please contact Camille Hayes at cmon7@ptd.net

A TRIBUTE TO MIKE DEKKER!

"it's not easy being green"!  And it's not much easier being the President of a Youth Sports Organization either!  So many parents to please, so many ideas to consider, so much time to invest!  But - for the past four years, Mike Dekker made the job look easy!  As of August 1st, 2010 - Mike steps down as President of DBYS, leaving behind some big shoes to fill!  Punctual he was not - dignified, classy, diplomatic and passionate he sure is!  Thanks for all that you did to help grow our baseball/softball program to be one of the most instructional and competitive leagues in the area!  D'ville wouldn't be who we are today without you!  Enjoy your new freedom, but don't be a stranger!  The league will surely miss you!

9U TEAM STATE CHAMPION RUNNER-UP!

HOT OFF THE PRESS...

D'VILLE 9S EXCITE CHEERING CROWDS IN NAILBITING STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!

On a beautiful summer night, In front of a packed crowd at Texas Field in Birdsboro, our D'ville 9s - stood along the third base line, removed their hats and honored the American flag as they listened to an amazing rendition of our National Anthem!  It didn't even seem to phaze them that they were playing for, what would be, the first ever DBYS State Championship Title!

The boys took the field, and the action began!  Hit after hit, play after play, inning after inning - the score of the game, against their rivals from Spring-Ford - teetered back and forth!  The air grew thick, the crowds grew loud - every inning that went by was cause for a deeper breath from the proud parents and fans who watched from the stands.

The caliber of play between these two talented teams was just incredible!  Neither gave up and the battle on the field was second to none!  It was a true nailbiting experience!

While the outcome may have been different than our 9U boys dreamed of the night before the 2010 Cal Ripken NW 9U State Championship game - it could not have been more exciting and the D'ville parents and fans could not have been any prouder!  In the end it was Spring-Ford who was up by just one run as they made the last out in the bottom of the 6th to end the game!  But for those who watched and especially for those who played - it was what childhood memories are all about!  Congratulations on a great season boys!  We're so proud of you!

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SEASON!

Thank you to all of our players, parents, coaches, family members and friends who made 2010 another successful season for DBYS!  We appreciate all the time that we know is required of you to make baseball here in D'ville a sport that the kids love to play!  Our recreational league play may have ended, but we still have lots of tournament team play ahead!  Enjoy your summer, but don't be a stranger to the fields!  Keep your own players practicing and c'mon down and support our local teams when we play at home!  There's always excitement at our ballfields in the summer!  Great stuff!

Interested in getting right back in the action?  Watch for a note about Fall Ball registration - coming in August!  (Fall Ball is for players eligible to play Minors or Majors in the Spring of 2011)!
