About Long Island Tigers Baseball Club

40th Anniversary -The Long Island Tigers Baseball Club

The Long Island Tigers Baseball Club has a proud tradition as expressed in our 40-year-old motto...

"The Standard of Excellence"

In 1969, two Detroit Tiger Scouts, Warren Almond and Emil Gall founded The Flushing Tigers organization which was subsequently re-located to Long Island and renamed the Long Island Tigers. Since 1969, the Long Island Tigers Baseball Club has built a solid reputation as being one of the finest sandlot baseball programs in the country. In our thirty-nine year history, over one thousand players have gone on to play for many prestigious NCAA Division 1 & Division 2 Collegiate Programs. From the very beginning, the founder's goals have been to allow the top local high school players to be showcased as a team so they may use their athletic talents, baseball, as a means of their pursuit to getting into a University of their choice.

Over one hundred fifty (150+) players have signed professional contracts. Dedication and commitment to the development of our players is the cornerstone of our program. We feel that sole purpose distinguishes the Tiger organization from all the rest.

The organization will continue to thrive and grow in the future with the acquisition of the Tigers by Ike Goldstein and Tom Hopke in 2009. Ike Goldstein, former Tiger, former Professional Catcher (Minnesota Twins and Montreal Expos) and Minor League Catching Instructor (Toronto Blue Jays) is very honored to have this opportunity passed down. "Playing for the Flushing Tigers under Warren Almond and Russ Bove was one of my most memorable baseball experiences. I couldn't have had better people to learn the game from and I look forward to providing the same to future Tiger Players," says Ike Goldstein.  Tom Hopke adds: "Ike and I are very excited about this opportunity. As a former player, I am keenly aware of the Tiger tradition that lists alumni like Steve Karsay, John and Dave Valle and Omar Minaya among its ranks. As a parent, I appreciate the continued commitment to the player both on and off the field. Play ball!"
