LMSC Magic (U11-A Boys) captured their second straight EPYSA State Cup championship on May 16th. It was not an easy road for Magic. There were 40 teams in the U11 State Championship and Magic had a tough draw. During group play, they defeated Ukrainian National Atoms 2-0, Philadelphia Soccer Club 5-1, and CASA (Harrisburg) 4-2. Upon advancement, Magic faced FC Bucks in a play-in round and won 2-1, needing a goal in extra time to seal the victory. They played another tough team in the quarterfinals, Lower Dauphin, and again won by the slim margin of 2-1. Their semi-final game was against the always tough West Chester United squad and Magic played them on their home turf. Magic gave up the first goal, but roared back to score the next 4 and won the match 4-1. Magic faced the very talented and well-coached Lehigh Valley United (the same team they defeated to capture the DELCO fall league championship) in the finals. Also, Magic learned only a few days the final game that their keeper would not be 100% as he would playing with a broken finger that he fractured during training the Sunday before the finals. Magic came out strong scoring the first 3 goals. However, Lehigh Valley responded with three straight goals. Magic regained their composure, continued to push hard in the second half and they were able to score the winning goal on a mad scramble in front of the opposing team’s net with 30 seconds left in the contest.
Magic captured first place in the top bracket of the U11 division of the Nether Providence Robert Urban Memorial Tournament with 3 hard-fought victories against Lighthouse Shamrock Rovers (4-2), Springfield (1-0) and West Chester United L (2-1).
LMSC Magic captured the Penn Legacy Academy Cup Invitational tournament title in Lancaster PA on March 7. This invitation only tournament is comprised of the top teams in the state. In group play, Magic won their first game versus CASA (Harrisburg), but lost a tough 2-1 decision to host Penn Legacy in game 2. They went on to the semi-finals where they beat Lehigh Valley 2-0, resulting in a rematch with Penn Legacy in the finals. It was a hard fought match and Magic scored the only goal of the game with 10 minutes remaining. Congratulations to Magic players on their third tournament title of the year.
Magic completed a perfect fall DELCO league season with a 3-1 win versus Lehigh Valley United in the championship game on November 16th. Magic went 14-0 in the top U11 division, outscoring their opponents by a combined 52-9 margin and playing only one game that was decided by less than 2 goals. Congrats to Magic players for an exceptional fall season!!!
