Warrington United 98/99 U11 Boys wrapped up a successful fall season this past weekend with a final victory to clinch first place in Inter-County Soccer League's Division 1
With a record of 7 wins 2 ties and only 1 loss the team posted 23 points to take the division.
The team brought together 10 returning players from the Blue Knights and 7 additional players from the Wolverines. The team started training in mid-June and one of the first orders of business was to choose a new team name. "Warrington United", chosen by the players, was a fitting name for this group. The two talented groups merged together seamlessly to create a balanced and diverse team capable of playing at a very high level.
The focus of the team is on player development over wins and losses, especially at a young age! We know if the players are sound technically, the winning will surely follow. We are happy to see this philosophy proved to be right this fall season as the team had it's share of success.
United played 3 tournaments this fall, winning 2 and taking second place in the third in OT while always playing in the highest bracket. These victories combined with the division title are a good start to playing 11v11 for the first time as a team.
The Division 1 title includes an automatic promotion to ICSL Elite Division. The team may forgo ICSL next season in favor of a move to the upper divisions of the Delco League in the fall and MAPS League in the spring as they continue their steady accent to becoming a premier team.
Congratulations to the players of Warrington United
Your hard work and dedication over the last five months has paid off with a division championship. We are very happy with your unselfish play and teamwork. You have grown both individually and as a team. Most rewarding has been your development in analyzing the game and making decisions on your own.
Enjoy the break! We look forward to resuming with the second session of indoor, EPYSA Indoor Cups and then the return to outside play in the early spring with tournaments and league play.
Thanks, Coach B
Warrington United U11 boys had their third straight strong showing in tournament play this weekend.
Once again playing in the top division, United took their bracket going 3-0 in preliminary play.
With a strong effort from all, the team beat a very good Voorhees Revolution team 1-0.
Knowing Voorhees would be a tough opponent, United stepped up to the challenge early!
Next was a 3-2 victory over Methacton United Blues.
Coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits, United showed the heart and determination needed to be a successful team as they outworked their opponents to win.
Finally was a 3-0 victory over WCUSC Pride.
In the final, Warrington United faced the Marleton United Lightning Red.
Playing in the final of the top division were two evenly matched teams that both went 3-0 to win their brackets in preliminary play. Play went back and forth throughout the match as both teams had opportunities to break the deadlock. The best chance came with a PK against United that was saved on a spectacular effort! Regulation time was not enough to determine the winner as a nil score was taken into a 10 minute overtime period. Marleton's good efforts yielded the game's first goal 2 minutes into overtime on a broken play in the box. United showed true grit and determination for the remaining 8 minutes creating a couple of good scoring chances, but it was not to be. In the end the result was a 1-0 overtime victory for Marleton as Warrington United finally suffered their first loss of the season after 14 games in tournament and league play.
Congratulations to Warrington United players for another tremendous showing!

Warrington United 98/99 Boys won the Gold Division of the 22nd Annual Al Perlini Tournament
Playing in a very competitive top bracket were (3) Elite Division Teams and (3) Division 1 teams.
United proved to be up to the task going a perfect 4-0 on the day!
The day began with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Horsham United.
Next was a 5-0 victory over CRUSA Renegades as the team found their stride.
A 3-2 win over Whitpain Warriors was next.
The day finished with a 5-2 decision over Hulmeville Predators.
The goal tending proved to be a strong point for the team as the goaltenders only allowed 2 goals during regular play all day long. A penalty kick was awarded in each of the last two games allowing a second goal to be scored in each despite spectacular efforts by the keepers on each shot. Those familiar with United's keepers are not surprised with this strong showing!
Frustrating opponents all day was the absolute stifling play of the defense! Whether it was strong 1v1 defending and support, or lightning quick coverage from the sweeper, teams could not find a solution. This group is the backbone of the team and a real source of pride!
The midfield raised their game to another level this day. Proving to be the glue in the transition game from defense to offense these players contributed with timely goals and good defensive support, crucial aspects to a successful team. This group let it be known that the middle of the field belongs to United!
Completing the team was an offense that can put fear in the eyes of opponents! Their unselfish play created countless scoring opportunities. The forwards also scored some great 1v1 goals, taking on opponents when necessary and finishing strong on some awesome shots! Knowing the offense will finish and score provides great confidence to the entire team!
All the United players contributed to what was truly a total team effort! Their unselfish play and hard work was contagious as the team consistently outwork their opponents! The team showed just what they are capable of achieving and expectations are high as the season begins next week!
Congratulations on a tremendous team effort that made us all proud!
Thanks, Coach B
The Warrington United U11 Boys won their first tournament of the season, The Warrington Summer Classic. In a rain-shortened event, United was awarded first place after finishing the first and what was to be the only day of competition a perfect 2-0. With victories of 1-0 and 2-0 on Saturday the team was in great position for Sunday's games, but the weather did no permit the second day.
After this successful start to the 2009-10 season the team is looking forward to their next challange, The Perlini Labor Day Tournament. On September 5 as they prepare for the fall season.
