Welcome to Warriors Lacrosse...
Warriors Lacrosse Players & Parents –
Thank you for being a part of the Warriors Lacrosse Family and for your continued support! If you are new to our Program, thank you for your interest, we look forward to meeting you soon.
For the benefit of those that are new to the sport, lacrosse is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse -- big or small. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse. Lacrosse is considered America’s oldest sport dating back to the early American Indians yet it is currently the fastest growing team sport in America. Youth lacrosse has grown over 77% since 2006 to nearly 400,000 in 2012. In addition, no sport has grown faster at the high school level over the past 10 years as there are now an estimated 282,000 high school players. Lacrosse is also the fastest-growing sport over the last nine years at the NCAA level with 671 college teams in 2012, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. There are more than 500 college club programs!
The Warriors Lacrosse Program has grown considerably over the last few years as the popularity of the sport in our region continues to grow. Our mission is to provide an environment for your player to learn & enjoy the game and grow as a person as well as an athlete but we need your help! Warriors Lacrosse is an ALL VOLUNTEER organization and to make Warriors Lacrosse a rewarding experience for everyone we need YOU! Our volunteer parents have a lot of fun working with the kids and meeting other lacrosse families. We encourage ALL parents to get involved as the success of our Program relies on every family doing their part such as coaching, field maintenance, team parent and much more. If you see a need or have an interest in helping in any way, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org – no experience necessary!
All Warriors Lacrosse teams, with the exception of our clinic, are travel teams. Travel teams play both home and away games. All of our away games are against other local community teams located primarily in Bucks and Montgomery counties. No overnight travel is required. All of our teams are grouped by grade & skill level and will play other teams of similar skill level.
Have questions? Please let us know! All of our Board Members & Coaches can be reached via email or by telephone.
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the field. Please remember the importance of honoring the game.
President, Warriors Lacrosse
The goal of Warriors Lacrosse is to place all our athletes in a position to learn, succeed - and have fun! At Warriors Lacrosse, sportsmanship & teamwork are important aspects of what we are teaching in addition to cradling, passing, catching, dodging, ground balls, the basic rules, positioning and overall “LAX IQ”…yes it is a lot, but you will be amazed at how quickly they boys (and you) catch on! Warriors Lacrosse fields teams for boys in Kindergarten through 8th grade (for information on girls lacrosse, please see the attached link for the Lady Bulldogs, a local girls program www.ladybulldogslax.com). Our K-2 Team (Kindergarten through 2nd grade) is primarily intramural, keeping the logistics for practices & games simple, with just a few scheduled games against other local teams of a similar skill-set later in the season. Players at the 3rd through 8th grade level will play a travel schedule against other teams in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Lacrosse Association league (SEPYLA) with one or more tournaments added during the course of the season. 3/4th graders play at the ‘C’ level, 5/6th graders play at the ‘B’ level and 7/8th graders play at the ‘A’ level as further described below. Generally, C & B level games are played on Sundays and A level and Young Guns games are played on Saturdays. K-2 is slightly more informal and games are scheduled based on field availability on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Please note, we field multiple teams at each of these levels to ensure that each player is placed on a team in accordance with his skill level based on the results of a player evaluation conducted in the Fall.
SEPYLA - Guidelines for Youth Team Levels of Play…There are three general levels of youth teams that exist in SEPYLA and they are: “A” level teams that represent 7th through 8th grade; “B” levels teams which represent 5th through 6th grade and “C” which represents 3rd and 4th grades. Within those general levels are a total of seven specific levels of teams: A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3 and C. There is no requirement that clubs have teams at each level and it can change annually. The challenge and responsibility of each club is to evaluate their own programs and players and place their own teams into the proper level. Every attempt should be made to avoid significant mismatches of skill, age and size which can result in discouragement for one team and lack of challenge for another not to mention the potential for physical injury to younger and smaller players. Mismatches are created when you place your team at a lower level than they belong. The following is an explanation which provides guidelines and descriptions of each level:
K-2 - Our K-2 Team (Kindergarten through 2nd grade) is primarily intramural, keeping the logistics for practices & games simple. Players will learn the basics about lacrosse including catching, throwing, scooping ground balls and basic rules in an educational and FUN setting. Games will we primarily intramural with just a few scheduled games against other local teams of a similar skill-set later in the season.
C-1 / Young Guns - This is the youngest grade level team at SEPYLA designed for the players in 3rd / 4th grade. Although 3rd and 4th graders are eligible to play at the C1 level, many teams at this level will consist of most or all 4th graders. Warriors Lacrosse will hold a player evaluation fielding our stronger players on a C1 Team (or teams depending on our registration levels) and the remaining players will be equally distributed on teams at the Young Guns level. Young Guns is essentially the junior varsity level for 3rd / 4th graders however there are a few minor rule variations and the games are played on slightly smaller modified fields. It is up to the discretion of the Club & Coaches to determine which level an athlete is best suited to play based on a player evaluation in the Fall.
B-3 & B-2 - The B2/B3 teams are designed to be the Junior Varsity levels for 5th & 6th grade teams. A B3 team would consist of primarily newer players that do not yet possess the skill level to play against more experienced teams whereas a B2 team would consist of players at an intermediate skill level. Warriors Lacrosse typically fields a team or teams at either the B2 or B3 levels based on the number of registered players at the 5th & 6th grade level.
B-1 – The B1 team is the Varsity level team at the 5th & 6th grade level and will consist of the most skilled 5th / 6th grade players based on our player evaluation in the Fall. Please note, only players who are committed to lacrosse as their primary sport in the spring should participate at this level due to the more intense practice & game schedule.
A-3 & A-2 - The A2/A3 teams are designed to be the Junior Varsity levels for 7th & 8th grade teams. An A3 team would consist of primarily newer players that do not yet possess the skill level to play against more experienced teams whereas a A2 team would consist of players at an intermediate skill level. Warriors Lacrosse typically fields a team or teams at either the A2 or A3 levels based on the number of registered players at the 7th & 8th grade level.
A-1 – The A1 team is the Varsity level team at the 7th & 8th grade level and will consist of the most skilled 7th / 8th grade players based on our player evaluation in the Fall. Please note, only players who are committed to lacrosse as their primary sport in the spring should participate at this level due to the more intense practice & game schedule.
