Welcome
This website is published to provide residents of the Wyomissing Area School District information about the Wyomissing Area Soccer Club. Our goal is to provide open communication and create increased involvement of parents and their children in the club. The soccer club currently has a membership of over 250 players involved in club competition from the under-8 age group all the way up to under-17. The majority of membership is in the U-8 to U-12 age groups, after which additional sporting activities are available at the junior and senior high level. Club teams compete in the Reading Berks Junior Soccer League during spring and fall seasons. The WASC board and staff of coaches are committed to increasing the quality of the soccer experience for children and their parents who are the membership of the club.

Our club has a limited supply of high quality ball caps featuring the new WYO soccer logo embroidered on the front of a navy blue mid-profile design, with additional lettering of Wyomissing Spartans Soccer on the back. Your purchase of this cap supports the improvement of our youth programs and facilities, and is a great way to show that you are a coach, player, parent, or fan of our soccer programs at the club, junior high, or senior high levels of play. The cost of the caps is $15. Caps will be available at the Quarry snack bar, but if you would like to purchase a cap sooner, call Bob McClennan at 927-1696. Thank you for your support of our club.

CONVINCING PARENTS TO pay for professional coaching is like picking low-hanging fruit. So what does that mean for the children and how this country is developing players?

The next time you attend a youth soccer practice or game, pay close attention to how much time passes without hearing at least one adult telling the children what to do and how to do it. Also, time how much actual soccer the children play during a practice session.
Usually the instructions from the adults are non-stop. [+ full article]
